Former Preston North End talent Elliot Watt could make a big move this summer with Ipswich Town understood to be interested.

That’s according to Football League World, who claim that Salford City ace Watt is a wanted man.

It’s suggested that League One duo Ipswich Town and Plymouth Argyle are both interested in signing Watt this summer.

The two clubs are pushing for promotion to the Championship, meaning Watt could face PNE next season.

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Interest in Watt is no huge surprise, as he has been in ridiculous form for Salford City in League Two.

Watt has racked up 14 assists this season, proving himself to be one of the most creative players in the country.

Watt could now make a major jump in his career and some fans may hope PNE get involved in this race.

The 23-year-old was born in Preston and joined the PNE youth setup after spells with Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers.

Watt ended up leaving in 2016 though and explained his departure on Wolves’ official website.

The midfielder admitted that he looked set to stay with Preston when he was offered scholarship terms, but mostly because there wasn’t too much other interest.

Watt went one step further, writing a letter to his 15-year-old self suggesting that signing a deal with PNE wouldn’t be best for him.

Watt didn’t quite break through at Wolves and after moving on to Bradford City in 2020, he has really found his form with Salford.

This maybe isn’t quite at Tyrhys Dolan levels of PNE mistakes when it comes to young players but seeing Watt rack up assists and then earn himself a Championship move would be somewhat frustrating.

PNE haven’t quite managed to supply talent from youth to first-team level and whilst Watt left a long time ago, watching his ascent this season has been very impressive.
