Preston North End fans may now be able to breathe a little easier about Freddie Woodman’s future after links to Rangers.
Woodman joined PNE from Newcastle United last summer, penning a three-year deal in what felt like a major coup.
Woodman has certainly lived up to his billing as a top Championship goalkeeper, turning in consistently excellent displays for North End.
Unsurprisingly though, Woodman’s form for PNE has resulted in speculation surrounding his future.
Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
The Scottish Sun reported in March that Rangers were interested in a £3.5million summer swoop for Woodman.
That report added interest from Leeds United and Leicester City, but North End may be able to rest easy when it comes to Rangers.
Yes, Michael Beale and co want another goalkeeper this summer with Allan McGregor’s time as number one coming to an end.
However, The Scottish Sun claim that Rangers are close to completing the signing of Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland.

The Manchester United loanee would be going to Ibrox as first-choice stopper and there is no chance of Woodman going there to be backup.
Ryan Lowe has also had his say on the situation, telling Lancs Live just a couple of days ago that there is ‘no chance’ of Woodman being sold this summer.
Add in that Woodman has played down the Rangers rumours himself and it looks like a move to Glasgow isn’t on the cards.
Whether more interest emerges remains to be seen, and we could hardly blame other clubs for being keen on such a quality goalkeeper.
Rangers seemingly won’t be making their move though and that’s a relief for PNE as the summer window looms.
