Millwall have agreed a deal to sign Hibernian striker Kevin Nisbet amid surprise links with Preston North End.

That is according to the Daily Record, who claim that a seven-figure deal has now been struck for Nisbet to join Millwall.

The Lions chased Nisbet during the January transfer window and thought they had a £2.3million deal done and dusted.

Nisbet changed his mind at the last minute though and Millwall missed out.

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Millwall may well feel that missing out on Nisbet was the difference between getting in the playoffs and finishing eighth.

Gary Rowett is back in the hunt for Nisbet though and Millwall have now agreed a fee with Hibernian once again.

Nisbet is thought to be weighing up his options though with Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City interested.

We can only assume that links to Preston North End won’t end up going anywhere.

The Scottish Daily Mail (18/04, p73) reported that PNE had joined the race to sign Nisbet this summer.

That rumour felt a little baffling to North End fans, who are firmly under the impression that there isn’t much to spend at Deepdale this summer.

Nisbet would surely be beyond PNE’s budget and Millwall striking a seven-figure deal highlights that belief.

Nisbet is entering the final year of his contract, so the fee is likely to be a little less than the £2.3million agreed in January.

The fee may still be beyond North End though, who really need to find another striker this summer.

Scotland international Nisbet has hit 12 goals in 19 league games this season, recovering brilliantly from a major knee injury.

The 26-year-old now looks set to face off against North End in the Championship next season, with Millwall currently in the box seat.
