Preston fans have voiced concerns about the club’s youth policy in recent times, and it’s hard to disagree with them.
North End released Tyrhys Dolan over the summer, and he has already made a huge impact at rivals Blackburn Rovers.
Defender Tyler Williams has also joined a Championship club in Middlesbrough, just months after being released by North End.
It’s a shame to see these players leave the club, but hopefully more talent will emerge in the near future to ease the fears.
Ethan Walker featured in pre-season, whilst we have seen playmaker Aaron Bennett in first-team training of late.
Lewis Coulton and Jacob Holland-Wilkinson have been on the bench in recent weeks, and it now seems that an even younger player is making an impression.
Preston’s Lead Youth Development Phase coach John Prince has taken to Twitter to share that one of his players has been in first-team training, whilst five were included in the Under-18 squad to face Lincoln City last night.
Sadly, that game was postponed, but it’s hugely positive that such young players are making an impression – and hopefully we see them emerge at Deepdale rather than move on like Dolan.
