In the transfer window there were plenty of outgoings and incomings to Deepdale. A few left on loan, and whilst Preston are struggling themselves with drab displays, many fans will be looking to see if the loanees are faring any better.

Jayden Stockley scored his third goal in four games for Charlton Athletic on Saturday as they drew away to Simon Grayson’s Fleetwood Town. His goal tally in his time at Charlton matches that of the whole Preston North End squad in four games. Perhaps he has found his level, or maybe he wasn’t being used properly by Alex Neil. His new nickname suggests Charlton are putting some crosses into the box for him to get his head on.

The Addicks are currently in 9th place in League One, three points adrift of the play-offs.

At the other end of the table Burton Albion are struggling and fell to a 3-0 defeat to Sunderland. Josh Earl joined Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side in January but he didn’t help matters on Saturday. He gave away a free-kick in the 5th minute and picked up an early yellow card which led to the opening goal of the game.

His miserable afternoon was compounded in the 56th minute when he received another yellow and was sent off. Earl also picked up a red card whilst on loan at Bolton Wanderers last season, and has one to his name for Preston too.

His second bookable offence today was for a scuffle with Sunderland’s Aiden O’Brien. Not what The Brewers need when they are bottom of League One.

Elsewhere in League One, Josh Harrop made his fourth appearance for Ipswich Town as he came off the bench in their 0-0 draw with Oxford United.
