Preston suddenly have a big reason to hope Harry Kane signs for Manchester City

Preston are in the hunt for a new striker – and their hopes of landing a top target may now hinge on Harry Kane’s Tottenham future.

North End do already have the likes of Ched Evans, Emil Riis, Sean Maguire and Scott Sinclair in attack, but Frankie McAvoy wants one more.

The top target now appears to be Manchester City’s Liam Delap, with Lancs Live reporting that Preston hope to take him on loan.

Could The 'Brazilian Super League' Rival Europe's Elite?

Next week’s friendly against City may help this pursuit, but Preston will now have to wait and see whether City are able to let him go.

As things stand, 18-year-old Delap is one of only two recognised strikers in first-team contention, alongside Gabriel Jesus following Sergio Aguero’s exit.

City’s main target appears to be Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, with a £100million bid submitted a month ago.

Pep Guardiola’s men are expected to come back with another bid, and Preston will now be watching Kane’s situation very closely.

Preston won’t have been at the top of the list of clubs impacted by the England captain wanting a transfer, but here we are.

If City can’t sign a new striker, sending Delap out on loan suddenly becomes unlikely – potentially leaving North End unable to land the teenager.

Preston may now selfishly hope that Kane does make the move to the Etihad Stadium, freeing Delap up for an exciting loan move to Deepdale.
