The international breaks often see many sackings, and tonight, we have seen one of the more surprising ones.
Tottenham Hotspur have tonight confirmed the departure of Mauricio Pochettino, more than five years since landing him from Southampton.
Pochettino has overseen remarkable progress at Spurs, taking the club from Europa League hopefuls to top four regulars and title challengers. He even guided Tottenham to the Champions League, only to lose to Liverpool in June.
Since then, it’s all gone downhill for Tottenham. They’ve won just three Premier League games this season, their only other two wins have come against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League, and they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by League Two Colchester United.

Now, Daniel Levy has seemingly felt that enough is enough. Pochettino and his coaching staff have all been sacked, and for the first time since the end of the 2013-14 season, Spurs are hunting a new manager.
MORE PRESTON STORIES
A host of big names have been linked, such as Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Massimiliano Allegri. Eddie Howe is also in the frame, and Preston fans have had a laugh about Alex Neil’s future.
Neil turned down a move to Stoke City recently, committing his future to North End. Still, every time a manager loses his job, fans like to poke fun at talkSPORT for reporting that Neil was leaving Preston for the Potters.

Of course, Neil is unlikely to be in the running for the Spurs job, even if Premier League clubs are allegedly keen on him. Still, it didn’t stop North End fans joking about the Scot.
Fans on Twitter have told Spurs to stay away from Neil, telling them to look elsewhere for a new manager. Others again mocked talkSPORT, with supporters offering tongue-in-cheek comments about Tottenham coming knocking on Preston’s door.
