With the January transfer window just a few hours away from opening, Preston fans are starting to dream.
North End undoubtedly need a striker, but finding them isn’t exactly easy. Every club in the division would love a goalscorer, and they often cost more money than Preston can pay.
So that leaves a couple of options; sign a lower league player and hope they’re the next David Nugent, or try and push for somebody on loan. Now, Preston don’t have a great relationship with Premier League loanees up top.

Andy Carroll, Danny Welbeck, Josh King, Lukas Nmecha… they’ve all arrived and failed to live up to their billing. Still, Preston fans wouldn’t mind one more arriving in January.
Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah has spent the first half of the season out on loan at Leeds United, but the Mirror claim that the Gunners are all set to recall him before sending him elsewhere.

The 20-year-old has managed just one Championship start and three in all competitions but has still managed five goals. A quick and skilful poacher, Nketiah scored against Preston in October and looked bright against North End on Boxing Day too.

Now, with news emerging of Nketiah’s loan deal coming to an end, Preston fans are taking to Twitter. A number of supporters want to see Nketiah arrive at Deepdale for the second half of the season, urging the club to strike a deal on January 1st.
Others are hoping Peter Ridsdale makes the call and gets Nketiah on board, believing he is the striker North End need for a playoff push in 2020.
