Daniel Iversen continues to delight Preston North End fans with his constant top level performances for Ryan Lowe’s side.
After a recent international break where he linked up with the senior Denmark squad for the first time, Iversen returned to his club side to put in another terrific performance against Derby County on Saturday.
The sky really does seem to be the limit for the Dane now, who has impressed everyone in the Championship and surely plenty in the Premier League as well.
It would be some achievement if Preston manage to hold of Iversen any longer, because he will see himself playing at a higher level you would think.
Whether that comes at Leicester City or not will be down to their plans with another Dane in Kasper Schmeichel. The 35-year-old is currently blocking his way for club and country and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Iversen could definitely be a good fit for a bottom half Premier League side, and might have caught the eye of a few clubs in Europe as well.
The defeat against Derby County on Saturday didn’t exactly fill Preston fans with confidence ahead of the Lancashire Derby with Blackpool on Tuesday night but one thing they can be sure of, is that the man between the sticks will be on form and it will require something special from Blackpool to get past him.
On Saturday Iversen was a rock in the goals and despite Ravel Morrison grabbing a late winner, Iversen made 12 saves at Pride Park, an amount no other goalkeeper has managed so far in the Championship this season.
It’s a stat that Iversen can be proud of as he was bombarded with efforts on goal from The Rams, but it’s not one that Ryan Lowe and the Preston team should be wearing with honour.
They simply shouldn’t be allowing that many efforts on goal that require a save from the Dane.
It was a toothless performance overall and a big improvement is needed from the team. The season already has an aura of fizzling out like many before, and the uplift in morale that followed Ryan Lowe’s arrival is quickly dying down.
