Preston North End fans already love Ali McCann, and after his display against Fulham at the weekend, you have to say it’s for good reason.
Snatched from St Johnstone with more seconds of the summer transfer window to go, McCann was an exciting capture.
Linked with a host of traditionally ‘bigger’ clubs, McCann made the shock late move to Deepdale in a seven-figure swoop.
The hope was that McCann would fill the void left by Ben Pearson – and you would be hard-pressed to find supporters who think he isn’t living up to that billing.
Against Fulham, McCann had the chance to show the world his all-action style thanks to Sky’s coverage.
McCann didn’t let that opportunity pass him by.
The Northern Ireland international recorded an absolutely ridiculous 10 tackles in his 90 minutes on the pitch.

For context, Fulham’s entire team combined for 11 tackles.
Wherever the ball is in the midfield battle, McCann is there. He is relentless, tenacious and will take on anybody regardless of their size and stature.
That’s what Pearson brought to the Preston side too, combining his battling nature with the athleticism to get around the pitch.
McCann is doing exactly that for North End, and having been a nightmare for Fulham players on Saturday, the Championship has been given a warning – McCann is coming for you.
