Preston tied up their fifth signing of the January transfer window on Wednesday by landing Joe Rafferty.
North End had already signed Connor Ripley, Josh Ginnelly, Brad Potts and Jayden Stockley, but needed a right back.
Darnell Fisher has disappointed this season, whilst Tom Clarke clearly isn’t a right back.
A number of right backs were linked with North End, and they finally snapped one up on Wednesday afternoon.
North End secured a deal for Rochdale right back Joe Rafferty, handing him a three-and-a-half year deal.
The 25-year-old made more than 200 appearances for Rochdale having signed from Liverpool back in 2012.
Rafferty will now be available to face Stoke City this weekend, though whether he starts remains to be seen.
Some Preston fans may not be too familiar with Rafferty, so let’s take a look at what Rochdale fans think about his exit.
Dale fans have suggested that Rafferty may be their best right back ever, adding that he deserves his move.
Others admitted they are gutted and ‘absolutely devastated’ about the move, though did add that he needs to improve his crossing.
Absolutely fitting that Joe’s final game he played another absolute blinder. Possibly the best right back we’ve ever had. Good luck in the Championship @JoeRafferty5 , You deserve it. Your always welcome back, and when/if you do it’ll be a LEGEND’S welcome. #Baller #RAFC https://t.co/4Ctj8m9W6B
