Preston thrashed Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon, turning in one of their best displays of the season.

Jayden Stockley, Jordan Storey and Alan Browne had North End 3-0 up, and whilst Matt Smith pulled one back for the R’s, Brad Potts wrapped it up with a fourth.

Three players scoring their first goals for North End made headlines, but Ben Pearson was the finest player on the park.

Pearson sat in holding midfield as Alex Neil went with a 4-1-4-1 setup, and completely dominated the R’s.

Not only did he break up play perfectly, but his inch-perfect distribution allowed North End to control the game.

We’re all pretty much stunned by Pearson’s quality every week, even with his shoddy disciplinary record holding him back.

On Sunday, a video emerged on Twitter of Pearson’s display, leading to widespread adulation from North End fans.

However, maybe we shouldn’t be quite so ready to praise and retweet the video. That’s because the video comes from Pearson’s agency.

We’re all aware of the January transfer window, and so are agencies as they tout their players around to top clubs.

Pearson’s agency no doubt know what they’re doing; posting up a video of how great Pearson is may just attract some Premier League interest before the end of the window.

KeySports Management have worked with North End prominently, as they also represent Callum Robinson and Jordan Storey.

Yet many of their clients are Premier League players. They have four players at Leicester, two at Bournemouth and two at Everton. If Pearson was to move to a top flight club, these would surely be the kind of clubs interested.

Preston fans aren’t silly; we know Pearson won’t be here forever. Yet ideally, Pearson would at least stay until the end of the season, and his agency putting his performance out for the masses before the end of the window won’t ease fears that he could go.
