Preston are undoubtedly in the market for at least one new striker this summer, and a host of names have been linked

Macauley Bonne and Josh Gordon were touted last weekend, as was Aston Villa hitman Keinan Davis in a potential loan move.

According to The Sun (16/08, p59), Preston are eyeing up a season-long loan for Davis, providing that Villa sign an experienced striker.

The 22-year-old started out with Stevenage and Biggleswade Town before joining Villa, and he has now made 65 first-team appearances for the club.

However, Davis has only managed four goals for Villa, and he is unlikely to be Villa’s first-choice striker next season despite ending the campaign in the first team.

Davis ticks boxes for Preston given that he has played in the Championship before, and is a mobile, robust target man who can lead the line – but that goal record will be of concern.

So, what do Villa fans think of Davis? Some supporters on Twitter have suggested that Davis has talent, and is still the best striker at the club even if he needs to go out and play regularly.

Others think that Davis just isn’t good enough because he can’t score goals, and even hope he is sold to Preston rather than messing around with a loan move…
