Preston are undoubtedly in the market for at least one new striker this summer, and a host of names have been linked
Macauley Bonne and Josh Gordon were touted last weekend, as was Aston Villa hitman Keinan Davis in a potential loan move.
According to The Sun (16/08, p59), Preston are eyeing up a season-long loan for Davis, providing that Villa sign an experienced striker.
The 22-year-old started out with Stevenage and Biggleswade Town before joining Villa, and he has now made 65 first-team appearances for the club.
However, Davis has only managed four goals for Villa, and he is unlikely to be Villa’s first-choice striker next season despite ending the campaign in the first team.
Davis ticks boxes for Preston given that he has played in the Championship before, and is a mobile, robust target man who can lead the line – but that goal record will be of concern.
So, what do Villa fans think of Davis? Some supporters on Twitter have suggested that Davis has talent, and is still the best striker at the club even if he needs to go out and play regularly.
Others think that Davis just isn’t good enough because he can’t score goals, and even hope he is sold to Preston rather than messing around with a loan move…
Too old for messing a it with loans. Sell to PNE

Worst record for a striker I have ever seen in my life it is time for a move I hope he does well for Preston.

There is a player in there with Keinan i truly believe it. At times he comes of the bench against opposition defenders they can’t handle his strength but his finishing let’s him down . It’s unfortunate he gets judged on goals as a striker . I wish him well whatever his next step

Could be the making of him …. I remember we offed Peter Crouch too early- danger of doing same with him …. TBH still best striker on books atm which says a lot .

Holds the ball up well and works hard… just can’t score! Hopefully a temporary move to the championship will give him the confidence, goals and experience he needs!

I love Keinan…. but it pains me to say he’s just not good enough for the Prem…. and I don’t see him making it. That miss against Palace kind of sums up the problem.

Don't like the sound of it, Davis for me is a great player to come off the bench, some players made a career out of it, even when Davis doesn't score he always contributes, have a funny feeling if we hold on to him he might score a few next season.

I'd never disrespect one of our own and looking at these, unfortunately its time to move on. Cant fault effort, commitment etc but 3 gls in 64 speaks for itself. We need threat off the bench with a chance of nicking a goal. With KD just dont see where the goals are coming from. pic.twitter.com/WcIDzeBOf6
