Ben Davies finally played a game in a Liverpool shirt on Tuesday night, as their pre-season got underway with two back-to-back 30 minute games in Austria.
Wacker Innsbruck and Stuttgart were the opponents with Davies playing against the former.
It was a chance for Liverpool fans to see Davies in action for their team after no playing time since his move to the club in January.
Many joked that they were surprised he did actually exist and the signing wasn’t just a myth. He lined up alongside Joel Matip in defence whilst Trent Alexander Arnold played his first game since his injuries in the Euro 2020 warm up games.
Ibrahima Konate played in the other short game. He recently signed from RB Leipzig and is likely to push Davies down the pecking order. However some fans were impressed with Davies and thought he looked better than Konate.
The former North Ender has already been linked with a move away from Liverpool with The Sun suggesting Sheffield United could be lining up a move for the defender.
It would be a shame to see Ben drop down to the Championship so soon after his sensational move. But he may get a few more chances in pre-season to show Jurgen Klopp he deserves a to play competitively too.
