Bournemouth are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after beating Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor this evening.

Sam Surridge tapped home the opening goal from a sweeping counter-attack, before Junior Stanislas buried a late penalty.

The game was of note to Preston fans because Ben Pearson was making his Bournemouth debut having joined the Cherries late last month.

North End were backed into a corner; Pearson’s contract would have expired this summer, and he made it clear that he wanted to leave.

Bournemouth swooped in with a cut-price deal for Pearson, who angered some of the Preston fanbase by suggesting that he was heading to join ‘better players’ at the Vitality Stadium.

Tonight, the 26-year-old started in midfield with Jefferson Lerma, and turned in a superb performance for caretaker Jonathan Woodgate.

If Pearson’s exit still hits hard, you may want to cover your eyes now, as Bournemouth fans have been absolutely raving about his display.

Cherries supporters have been calling Pearson ‘absolutely immense’ and ‘different gravy’, believing he is a future favourite.

Others compared him to Andrea Pirlo just like Preston fans did, and feel that he is exactly what Bournemouth have been lacking in midfield as Preston face up to life without one of the Championship’s top players.
