Preston secured a massive coup in the final stages of transfer deadline day, landing Celtic target Ali McCann from St Johnstone.
North End struck very, very late in the day to land McCann in a deal believed to be worth around £1.2million rising closer to £2million.
Nobody really saw this one coming. Preston needed a midfielder, but few really saw North End pulling off a seven-figure signing before the window closed.
The 21-year-old has been a key part of Callum Davidson’s St Johnstone side, helping them win two domestic trophies and then starring against Galatasaray in Europe.
Celtic have been scouting McCann in recent times, but Preston have managed to nip in and bring the Northern Ireland international to Lancashire.
Celtic fans just can’t believe they’ve missed out on this one, believing that McCann was an ‘open goal’ signing for them to make.

McCann has been starring right under their nose, and believe that Celtic will ultimately regret not going in for the midfielder – especially for such a small price.
Some even think that McCann is going to be another John McGinn in terms of Celtic missing out on a Scottish Premiership midfielder and then seeing him become a star.
Others believe the price tag is ‘scandalous’ and feel Celtic have made an ‘appalling’ decision by not swooping in to beat Preston to McCann’s signature.
