Preston have wrapped up their first permanent signing of the January transfer window, bringing in Doncaster Rovers midfielder Ben Whiteman.
North End brought in three loan signings last week, and have now paid a ‘significant’ fee to sign Whiteman from Rovers until 2024.
Whiteman has been linked with Preston for weeks now, but rival interest meant fans were fearing that he would head elsewhere.

The 24-year-old has though signed now, and appears to be a major coup for Preston having been one of League One’s top performers for years now.
Formerly of Manchester United and Sheffield United, Whiteman has the ability to control Preston’s midfield like Ben Pearson and Paul Gallagher have, whilst he still has potential to develop further.
MORE PRESTON STORIES
Whiteman has racked up more than 150 appearances for Doncaster, and his departure has understandably left some Donny fans disappointed.

Some supporters took to Twitter to react to the news, with some slating the board for a lack of ambition whilst suggesting that Preston will be absolutely laughing at a fee in the region of £1.5million, feeling that he is worth around £4million instead.
Others called Whiteman a ‘cracking player’ and fully believe that he will be a massive loss to Doncaster having completed his move to Deepdale.
