Preston have secured their first signing of the January transfer window, landing Jayson Molumby on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion.

The midfielder joins North End until the end of the season, and comes in to bolster Alex Neil’s midfield options at a time when Ben Pearson’s future is unclear.

Molumby played in the Championship last season as he spent the campaign on loan at Millwall, becoming a key man for Gary Rowett’s side.

With 36 Championship appearances, the 21-year-old proved to be a key part of the Millwall side, before heading back to Brighton over the summer.

Molumby has struggled for first-team football with the Seagulls, and now heads back out on loan to the Championship for the remainder of the season.

Preston fans seem pretty happy with the deal, but what about Millwall fans? The Lions attempted to sign Molumby on a permanent basis yesterday, according to London News Online.

Millwall fans have been taking to Twitter to share their frustration, admitting that Molumby’s move has made them ‘sad’ and has ‘left a sour taste’ after such a strong season last term.

Others want 2021 cancelled already because Molumby has ended up at Preston, and are really disappointing that the Lions didn’t manage to bring him back on loan again.
