Preston North End fans will have been on Ali McCann watch last night as our new midfielder started for Northern Ireland against Switzerland.
McCann joined PNE on deadline day last week, completing a move from St Johnstone with mere seconds of the transfer window to spare.
The 21-year-old had to finalise the deal whilst away on international duty with Northern Ireland, and he then started against Lithuania just a couple of days later.
Having been given a rest against Estonia on Sunday, McCann was back in the starting lineup for a big game against Switzerland on Wednesday night.
PNE fans will have likely ditched watching England in favour of tracking McCann’s progress, and he performed brilliantly even against a top Bundesliga star in Denis Zakaria.
McCann was tireless in midfield, showing that he could not only play forward but also win plenty of duels in midfield.
McCann helped Northern Ireland claim a 0-0 draw, an undeniably huge result for Ian Baraclough’s side.

PNE supporters will have been dazzled by McCann, but what about Northern Ireland fans?
Some took to Twitter to suggest that McCann is ‘too good for PNE’, branding his performance against Switzerland ‘world class’.
Others think McCann is ‘classy’ and ‘top drawer’, even hailing his influence on Liverpool teenager Conor Bradley, who came on in the second half; all pretty positive stuff as PNE fans get ready for his Lilywhites debut.
