Preston have signed attackers in each of the last eight transfer windows – but fans still want one more.
Stephy Mavididi, Louis Moult, Lukas Nmecha, Jayden Stockley, David Nugent, Scott Sinclair, Emil Riis, Ched Evans… North End have been active in an attempt to bolster the striking options.
Mavidid and Nmecha were only on loan whilst Moult, Nugent and Stockley have all moved on.
Sinclair, Riis and Evans are at least still at the club, but North End do want to add another goalscoring threat to Frankie McAvoy’s ranks.
McAvoy wants to play two strikers, playing either a 4-4-2 diamond or a 3-4-1-2 system, and the Lancashire Evening Post reported last month that Preston are playing the waiting game over a new striker.
Preston do have Riis, Evans, Sinclair, Tom Barkhuizen and Scott Sinclair who can play up front, whilst Joe Rodwell-Grant and Jacob Holland-Wilkinson are also in the ranks.
BBC Radio Lancashire have now posted a clip of McAvoy stating that he does have a number of options in the squad already, so it may not be a disaster if Preston can’t sign a new striker.
Fans are now taking to Twitter to share their concerns with the comments, suggesting that it means Preston won’t be signing a new striker this summer.
Some fear ‘the same old story’ that North End won’t get in the quality of striker they need, and believe that McAvoy has been told that a striker won’t be arriving, so needs to spin that the current options are good enough…
