Preston claimed a vital win on Tuesday night as they beat Derby County 3-0 at Deepdale in a convincing victory.
North End were still one win away from pushing themselves towards Championship safety, and a game against the dismal Rams seemed like a great opportunity.
In the end, this was a routine win for Frankie McAvoy as Ben Whiteman headed Preston in front from an Alan Browne for his first goal since signing.
Ched Evans added a second after the break, before a Ryan Ledson free kick went all the way in, adding some glass to a comfortable win.
Preston were the better side for much of the game, outside of a 10-15 flurry from Derby after half time – and that’s when Daniel Iversen came up big.
The Dane made one key save, acrobatically denying George Edmundson to keep his clean sheet intact as he again showed his quality.
Iversen has been a star since arriving in January, and he may even win Player of the Year at this rate having helped keep North End afloat.
Reports suggest that other clubs now want to sign Iversen, but Preston fans are calling for the club to splash the cash and win the race to bring him back to Deepdale next season.
Some called Iversen ‘class’ and ‘unbelievable’, even better than Jordan Pickford was when the now-Everton star was at Preston in 2015.
