Preston North End lost 2-0 to Liverpool on Wednesday night but fans have been blown away by the performance of midfielder Ali McCann.
Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi bagged second-half goals to send Liverpool through to the last eight of the Carabao Cup.
North End offered little in the second half but had a number of chances to score in the first half.

Chances for Tom Barkhuizen, Seani Maguire, Ryan Ledson and Brad Potts came and went. In the end, Preston paid for missing those chances.
Preston fans want something to be encouraged by at the moment, and that came with Ali McCann’s performance.
The Northern Ireland international had been out for almost a month with an injury picked up against Queens Park Rangers.

Despite not even being on the bench against Blackpool, McCann was thrown into the starting lineup to face Liverpool.

McCann turned in a superb performance, recording two key passes, two interceptions and four tackles.
Preston fans are now desperate to see more of McCann, calling on Frankie McAvoy to started him regularly from now on.
Some called McCann ‘phenomenal’ and a ‘serious player’, believing he was the best player on the pitch – even with Liverpool’s internationals playing too.
