Pundit David Prutton has told Sky Sports he thinks Preston will beat Bristol City 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Lilywhites head into the game having beaten Millwall 3-1 last weekend, picking up a fourth straight away league win. It’s now eight unbeaten for Alex Neil’s side, but with just one win in the last four home games, he’ll be praying for a big result.
Beating the Robins could put Preston to within three points of the play-offs, which nobody could have predicted heading into 2019.
Opponents Bristol City – who sit in the final play-off spot right now – have lost their last two Championship outings. Defeats to Norwich City and Birmingham City have ended their seven-game winning run, and they tend to struggle against Preston. History counts for little though, and Preston will have to be at their best to beat a very dynamic and exciting City side.
A win would take North End just three points behind City, but Alex Neil will have to do it without star midfielder Ben Pearson. A yellow card at Millwall last week means he must sit out two games with his 10th booking of the campaign.
Ahead of the game, pundit Prutton has told Sky Sports that he thinks Preston are one of the best bets to sneak into the play-offs. He’s also backing Preston to win 2-1 on Saturday, admitting concerns about Bristol City’s streaky form.
“Can Preston make a run for the play-offs? They probably look in the best form of all the sides pushing outside the top six and this is a big game for them in that respect,” said Prutton.
“You worry for Bristol City every time they lose a game after a good run of form. Lee Johnson’s side are so streaky and you wouldn’t now back against them losing as many in a row as they had previously won. Home win,” he added.
