West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan has praised Preston North End despite his Baggies side running riot at Deepdale.

Corberan and West Brom headed to Lancashire on Saturday afternoon in the hope of ending PNE’s unbeaten start to the season.

North End had won all four previous home league games this season but came unstuck against West Brom.

Darnell Furlong, Alex Mowatt, Matt Phillips and Kyle Bartley all found the net as West Brom secured a 4-0 thrashing.

PNE just weren’t at the races and West Brom took full advantage with a thumping win, leaving Ryan Lowe to try and recover against Leicester City this week.

Carlos Corberan comments on PNE

Corberan has given his verdict on North End and offered some kind of praise for Lowe’s side.

Speaking to West Brom’s official website, Corberan noted that West Brom really needed the goal because of North End’s attitude.

Corberan believes that one of PNE’s big strength is that there is a never-say-die attitude within Lowe’s ranks.

West Brom couldn’t afford to take their foot off the gas in Corberan’s eyes and simply had to keep going in order to kill off any North End comeback hopes.

“Every single goal meant a lot today and every single goal was important. We needed the goals because we knew one of Preston’s strengths was that they don’t give up,” said Corberan. “It was important to create chances and score goals today. We had to score goals to dominate,” he added.

“We feel pleased to achieve the three points and celebrate with our fans. It’s really important to celebrate with them,” he added.

Corberan clearly had real respect for North End and he certainly knew about the comeback record this season.

PNE fell behind to Bristol City, Sunderland, Swansea City, Birmingham City and Rotherham United this season but avoided defeat in all of those games.

West Brom were maybe fearing something similar but just wasn’t to be for PNE as Saturday became a real off day after such a great start the season.
