Preston made it two wins from two in pre-season on Monday night, beating Cork City 2-0.
North End had kicked off with a 2-0 win over Bamber Bridge on Saturday, with Tom Clarke and Louis Moult on the scoresheet.
On Monday, North End headed over to Ireland to take on Cork. Relations are strong between the two clubs, so the game at Turner’s Cross was no surprise.
A great test it may not have been, but Preston claimed another comfortable win. Jayden Stockley struck Alex Neil’s side in front, before Josh Ginnelly scored a superb second.

North End were rampant in the second half, forcing save after save from Tadhg Ryan in the Cork goal. Billy Bodin hit the post, Louis Moult hit the bar, blocks and last-ditch challenges were made, all of which left PNE frustrated.

Ginnelly’s late goal secured that elusive second goal and a win, capping off a promising showing. The winger impressed against Bamber Bridge too, and showed his potential once again.
The January signing from Walsall seemed a curious signing, as he ended the season with just five Preston appearances. Ginnelly, 22, needed to really impress in pre-season, and he’s taking his chance.
Ginnelly is tricky and direct, using his blistering pace to great effect. His goal saw him beat one defender before whipping a superb strike into the corner.
Ginnelly’s display has got fans talking, with some raving about his display on Twitter. Fans hailed Ginnelly as an ‘absolute steal’ and a ‘cracking little player’, believing he could be one to watch in the coming season.
