Preston’s tough week of away trips didn’t start well on Tuesday night, losing 2-0 away at West Bromwich Albion.

North End faced a difficult week on the road, firstly travelling to take on West Brom before heading off to Fulham this weekend.

Tuesday’s clash was always going to be difficult, and despite starting well, North End fell behind early on as Callum Robinson’s cross picked out Hal Robson-Kanu, who squeezed between Ben Davies and Andrew Hughes to score.

Robinson had a hand in the second goal too, again picking out Robson-Kanu, but this time he found Jake Livermore to make it 2-0 and effectively kill off the game by half time.

Preston didn’t exactly help themselves in the second half as Darnell Fisher received a straight red card for a rash challenge on Robinson, and the game finished 2-0 without Preston having a shot on target.

Quality in the final third was a big difference between the two sides, and it was particularly galling to see Robinson turn in such a strong display, less than a year since he left North End for Sheffield United.

Now on loan at West Brom, Robinson again showed why he is such a dangerous attacker at Championship level, and Preston fans took to Twitter to react to his display on Tuesday night.

Some felt that he was running the show against Preston, even tearing North End apart as fans admitted it ‘hurt and was ‘hard to take’ as he came back to show North End what they’re missing.

Many just wished Robinson was still in a North End shirt, as he provided the cutting edge that Preston just didn’t have at The Hawthorns, but at least we shouldn’t have to face him for a while now…
