Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe has praised Troy Parrott after his goal and performance against Luton Town on Wednesday night.

After five home league defeats in a row, Lowe really needed a result at Deepdale against Luton.

The performance wasn’t exactly great but North End at least stopped the bleeding after a 3-0 hammering at Burnley.

Ben Whiteman’s red card put PNE in a hole and Carlton Morris fired Luton ahead to put North End at risk of another defeat.

Troy Parrott won a penalty though and the Irishman stepped up to slam his effort down the middle, rescuing a point for PNE.

Luton will wonder just how on earth they didn’t win but North End won’t be complaining at picking up a point.

This still wasn’t really good enough from PNE and questions remain over Lowe’s future but at least it wasn’t another loss.

Parrott’s goal is a welcome boost, with the Irishman scoring his first goal since returning from injury.

Parrott looked bright against the Hatters and went close to scoring with a nice run down the left side before eventually scoring from the spot.

The Tottenham Hotspur loanee had struggled for goals before suffering a significant hamstring injury at Norwich City in October.

Now back fit again and raring to go, Parrott was adamant that he would be taking that spot kick against Luton and he didn’t disappoint.

The hope now is that Parrott can now kick on and start scoring regularly and Lowe liked what he saw from the Spurs talent.

Lowe told PNE’s official media channels that he felt Parrott was ‘fantastic’ against Luton and hopes he can keep impressing moving forward.

Lowe praised Parrott for rifling his penalty down the middle, coming up with the big moment when the PNE boss needed it most.

Parrott enjoyed a strong second half of last season with Milton Keynes Dons and everybody around North End will be hoping for similar in the second half of this campaign too.
