Alan Browne feels Leeds United simply couldn’t handle PNE’s Liam Millar

Preston North End midfielder Alan Browne has hailed Liam Millar as ‘unbelievable’ after today’s 2-1 home win over Leeds United.

Ryan Lowe needed a result and he certainly got one.

The PNE boss has been under immense pressure of late having won just three of the previous 16 games before taking on Leeds United.

A visit from the Championship’s third-place side seemed like a nightmare situation but Lowe saw his players produce a massive display.

Alan Browne headed PNE in front just minutes after Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier was sent off for clashing with Milutin Osmajic.

Leeds did find a way back into the game as a very soft penalty was converted by defender Pascal Struijk.

PNE found the winner though as Liam Millar fired a stunner into the top corner, going from creator to goalscorer having set up Browne’s opener.

Millar was the star of the show and ripped Leeds talent Archie Gray apart from start to finish.

From the quality on the cross for Browne’s goal to his incredible winner, Millar was a thorn in the Leeds side throughout.

Millar has been impressive despite PNE’s disappointing form as a team, notching two goals and three assists in his last four games.

The Canadian has received enormous praise following his Boxing Day display and PNE captain Alan Browne has now joined in.

Browne told Sky Sports that he thinks Millar is truly ‘unbelievable’ when he is firing on all cylinders.

Browne noted that PNE players just give Millar the ball and let him do the rest with Leeds simply unable to cope with his pace and trickery.

“Yeah, he’s alright,” joked Browne. “We just give him the ball and let him do the work. When he’s on it, he’s unbelievable and he showed his class today and I don’t think they could live with him for 90 minutes,” he added.

PNE fans will be well aware that Millar is only on loan from Basel.

We think that a permanent January deal for Millar would really boost the North End fanbase, especially after tearing Leeds apart.

Millar is earning comparisons to another former PNE loanee in Aiden McGeady having shown exceptional talent on the ball.

Millar deserves all the praise coming his way right now and we can only hope to see his wing wizardry in a North End shirt for a long time yet.
