Preston produced a rousing late show on Friday afternoon, claiming a last-gasp point to snatch a point in a 1-1 draw with league leaders Norwich City.
North End started well but missed a host of chances, with Emiliano Buendia punishing Preston for their profligacy with a fine long-range finish.
It was then Norwich’s turn to squander chances, with Teemu Pukki particularly culpable, and Brad Potts fired in a deflected strike in injury time to make the Canaries pay.
The goal sparked wild scenes of celebration at Deepdale as interim head coach Frankie McAvoy won an unlikely point, pushing Preston another step closer to safety.
Following Alex Neil’s exit, Preston did need a show of unity, and the celebrations after Potts found the net showed that this group of players is very much still together.
After Potts snatched a point, North End captain Alan Browne – who missed the game through suspension – took to Twitter to offer a brief reaction to the scenes at Deepdale.
Browne posted ’till the end’ as North End fans loving both the photos of the celebrations and Browne’s message itself as he prepares to return to action.
The Irishman still has one game of his suspension left to serve, but he likely can’t wait to get in the trenches and fight with his Preston teammates in search of survival.
