Preston returned to winning ways on Wednesday night as they beat Birmingham City 1-0 at St Andrew’s.
North End claimed a narrow win as Scott Sinclair bagged the only goal of the game, finishing off a smart counter-attack.
A key to the goal was a driving run from Jayson Molumby, as the Irishman picked the ball up in midfield from Sinclair’s flick.

Molumby carried the ball at pace before releasing the pass at the right moment for Sinclair to slot home, sealing all three points against the Blues.
This was Molumby’s first league start for Preston since arriving on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this month, having been on the bench at Bristol City.

The 21-year-old was deployed in a midfield three with Ben Whiteman and Ryan Ledson, but was given more license to break forward and support the attack.

That paid off with the goal, and boss Alex Neil admitted after the final whistle that he needed some time to figure out how to best use his new signing.
Neil admitted that training has helped him find out Molumby’s best role, and having seen more of him in action, he was happy with his role last night, breaking forward and pressing well, running himself into the ground in the process.
