Preston have tonight completed their first January signing as Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Jayson Molumby has arrived.
North End have confirmed the signing of Molumby on loan until the end of the season, bolstering Alex Neil’s midfield ranks.
Question marks linger over the futures of Ben Pearson, Alan Browne and Daniel Johnson, so Molumby checks in as another option in the engine room.

The 21-year-old starred on loan at Millwall last season, playing 36 games for the Lions before heading back to Brighton over the summer.
A five-cap Ireland international and teammate of both Seani Maguire and Alan Browne, Molumby has struggled for playing time with Brighton this season, and returns to the Championship for more experience.

Molumby will be available for this weekend’s FA Cup tie against Wycombe Wanderers, and will take the number 21 shirt at Deepdale.

Boss Neil has offered his view on the deal, claiming that bringing in Molumby is a ‘signal of intent’, which should excite fans for the rest of the January window.
Neil added that Molumby has great energy, has quality on the ball and knows the division inside out, so the Scot is delighted to have him on board.
“I think this is a signal of intent from us and he is a great acquisition,” Neil told the club’s official website. “He has great energy, is good on the ball and is an Irish international. He has played at this level before for Millwall and he knows what it is about and we are delighted to get it across the line,” he added.
