Preston couldn’t make it three wins in a row today, playing out a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest.
North End went into the game having beaten Norwich City 3-1 in midweek, and were hoping for another rousing Deepdale display.
However, this one was a dour affair. Neither side could find a breakthrough, playing out a goalless draw that won’t live long in the memory.
Forest were strong and resilient, whilst their diamond formation was something of a surprise and sparked a re-jig from Alex Neil at half time.
It didn’t really change a great deal, with North End looking a little flat after their midweek heroics.
Some fans had ambitious targets of a late play-off run, but a draw leaves North End seven points off the top six; they’ve played two games more than Derby County and Middlesbrough too.

Neil looked for the positives though, revealing that he told his players to be proud of their recent results despite falling short today.
Neil also hailed defender Ben Davies, raving about how the centre back dealt with Forest striker Lewis Grabban.
