Preston North End boss Alex Neil has told Lancs Live that he wants new signings brought in during the January transfer window.
Neil saw his side lose 3-0 at Luton Town on Saturday afternoon, just days after beating Middlesbrough by the same scoreline.
North End have had great away wins at Brentford, Queens Park Rangers, Huddersfield Town and Reading, but endured home difficulties against Birmingham City, Wycombe Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers.

Preston simply can’t find any consistency to push towards the playoffs as things stand, and it’s clear that the squad is just a little short right now.
The January transfer window is just a matter of weeks away from opening, and the attention will soon turn to Preston bringing in reinforcements.

A centre back is a must after losing Patrick Bauer for the rest of the season, whilst creative and goalscoring additions wouldn’t go amiss.
Add in that Ben Davies, Ben Pearson, Alan Browne and Daniel Johnson could yet be sold inside the final six months of their contracts, and this could be a pivotal window for North End.

Neil has now admitted that he wants to strengthen the squad, highlighting that Preston added just two new faces in 2020’s two transfer windows; Scott Sinclair and Emil Riis.
With head of recruitment Joe Savage leaving, Preston need to be ready – and Neil is once again urging those above him to make moves in the market.
“We need to strengthen the squad, and I say that every window. We’ve only recruited two players in the last two windows,” said Neil, who seemingly wants to see Preston be more proactive.
