Preston may have just received a huge transfer boost, with Ben Whiteman completely left out of Doncaster Rovers’ squad today.
North End have added three loan signings this week, and one of them starts against Wycombe Wanderers this afternoon with Jayson Molumby in action.
Alex Neil remains keen to add more new signings, and Doncaster star Whiteman is the top target for Preston right now.

Adam Leventhal of The Athletic reported just days ago that Whiteman was nearing a move to Deepdale, but that kind of talk slowed down.
Doncaster boss Darren Moore claimed that Preston had failed with a bid for Whiteman, and he would be involved in today’s FA Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers.

However, Doncaster have announced their lineup for today’s game, and not only is Whiteman not starting, but he isn’t on the bench either.

Liam Hoden of the Doncaster Free Press claims that Whiteman has returned a positive test amid the ongoing pandemic, and that’s why he isn’t playing today.
We’ll now see if that’s really the case or if Whiteman is actually being held out ahead of a move to Deepdale, with North End certainly in the hunt for the 24-year-old.
