Preston are looking into a deal for Izzy Brown, with the playmaker available for free having been released by Chelsea.

North End are searching for more quality in the final third, and could take a calculated punt on Brown.

The 24-year-old has shown his quality in the Championship with Huddersfield Town and Luton Town in years gone by, but has struggled with injuries of late.

If Preston do sign Brown on a free, they would be betting on his technical ability in big moments and on him being worth the gamble surrounding his injuries.

Brown would find a familiar face if he does make the move to Preston, given that he has been close with Ryan Ledson in the past.

Brown and Ledson were in the England Under-17’s together, winning the European Championships back in 2014.

Ledson captained the side, whilst both players started the final against the Netherlands, securing a win on penalties.

When celebrating the win, Ledson noted that he can Brown were ‘the best of mates’, joking that they were close despite coming from very different backgrounds.

Reuniting with Ledson could be a major factor for Brown, and would certainly help him settle in if he makes the move to Preston this summer.
