Preston’s decision to release Tyrhys Dolan at the end of last season raised eyebrows – and then caused anger.
Dolan was one of North End’s most exciting prospects, often impressing in the Under-18 setup after prior spells at Manchester City and Burnley.
Yet when it came to handing out professional contracts, Dolan missed out in a move that seemed completely bizarre.

To rub salt into the wound, Dolan then went and joined Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer, immediately heading into their first-team setup.
The 19-year-old has hit four goals and three assists in 21 games for Rovers this season, including a goal against Preston back in November.
MORE PRESTON STORIES
Now, Rovers have signed another youngster having been released by Preston, with Joe Nolan heading to Ewood Park.
Midfielder Nolan has been on trial with Rovers, but has now been given a first professional contract by Preston’s local rivals.
Nolan was a regular in the Under-18’s alongside Dolan, and having been axed by North End, he will now be looking to mirror Dolan’s success in East Lancashire.
Seeing another young prospect head to Rovers won’t sit well with many, and Nolan now has the chance to may Preston pay for letting him go.
