Preston may have beaten Barnsley last weekend, but Brandon Barker has only just celebrated the victory on Instagram today.
A Daniel Johnson brace, as well as goals from Tom Barkhuizen, Ben Pearson and Josh Harrop, secured a thumping 5-1 home win over the Tykes, extending North End’s unbeaten run.
That meant Preston went into the international break in third place in the Championship table, and are now eight games unbeaten.
The win was almost a week ago, but Rangers winger Barker took to Instagram today to react to a photo of Pearson celebrating. After all, that was Pearson’s first goal in three years, and he showed his delight in front of the Preston faithful.

Barker – who spent last season on loan at Preston – hasn’t forgotten about North End admitting that he loves to see Pearson celebrating with the North End supporters.
Barker didn’t land a permanent move to Deepdale, instead heading off to Ibrox in August. He’s only made five appearances for the Gers playing a total of 179 minutes under Steven Gerrard.
Many wanted Barker to stay after his loan from Manchester City, though whether he’d even get in this Preston side right now is questionable. Hopefully Barker can make a success of his time in Glasgow, but it’s touching that he still keeps one eye on North End, and Pearson in particular.
Maybe the pair will play together again one day, but for now, Barker is offering Pearson support from afar, having previously been rivals in Manchester with City and United respectively.
