Preston played out a 1-1 draw with Swansea City on Saturday afternoon, sparking a mixed response from fans.

North End didn’t exactly hit top gear, and it took a Daniel Johnson penalty to rescue a point at Deepdale.

If fans were a little unconvinced on Saturday night, then spare a thought for a rather unhappy Brandon Barker.

Barker took to Instagram on Saturday to post a photo of himself in action, but with angry emoji covering his face.

As it was on his Instagram story, the post no longer exists on Barker’s page, but many fans spotted it.

The winger was left out of the North End squad on Saturday, and it’s conceivable that he’s unhappy with that.

The Manchester City loanee, 22, has shown flashes of his quality but hasn’t put together a consistent run of form.

Even in the injury crisis, Barker was far from a regular, and suffered an injury himself away at Nottingham Forest.

Barker hasn’t quite fit into Alex Neil’s style of play, and Saturday brings some questions about Barker’s future.

From the team selection, it seems that Barker has dropped way, way down the pecking order under Neil.

Tom Barkhuizen and Brad Potts started, and it seems that Seani Maguire and Lukas Nmecha would even be preferred out wide to Barker.

Add in Josh Ginnelly’s arrival from Walsall, and it’s hard to see where Barker fits in now.

With players returning from injury and a number of new signings, Barker may now be an odd man out at Deepdale.

A return to parent club Manchester City may be wise for all, allowing Barker to go and play elsewhere if he isn’t in the plans at Deepdale.
