Preston now face Wigan Athletic on Friday before hosting United in a big game – as far as friendlies go anyway – at Deepdale.
Frankie McAvoy’s side are just over a week away from the start of the Championship season and will be looking to find some fluency, especially going forward.
United will have a number of big-name players in action, and their star man could be making an appearance.
Playmaker Bruno Fernandes has yet to play for United in pre-season games having been given a break after playing for Portugal at Euro 2020.
United’s two-time Player of the Year at least attended last night’s game against Brentford, but didn’t play any part.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that the Brentford game just came too soon for Fernandes, but he is too far away – an indication that Preston could be the game for Fernandes to play.
That would be a great test for the likes of Ryan Ledson and Ben Whiteman in midfield, and Preston fans would surely love to see a player of Fernandes’ quality turning out at Deepdale.
