Preston want to re-sign Callum Robinson but the forward has been named in West Bromwich Albion’s starting lineup tonight.
North End need to bring in two strikers this summer, especially after Seani Maguire’s injury against Bamber Bridge.
Preston need to find goals and after missing out on Andre Gray, the attention is turning elsewhere.
One rumour that has really captured the imagination of fans surrounds Callum Robinson.
The Express and Star reported last week that Preston are lining up a move to bring Robinson back to Deepdale.
The problem is that West Brom would like to sell Robinson whereas North End are chasing a loan deal.
Bringing Robinson back to Preston won’t come cheap but would certainly be an ambitious move for North End.
Robinson, 27, signed for Preston on loan on three different occasions because joining permanently from Aston Villa in 2016.
The Ireland international became star under Alex Neil and hit 12 goals in 27 games during the 2018-19 season.
Robinson was then sold to Sheffield United before heading to West Brom, where Steve Bruce now seemingly doesn’t fancy him.
Yet if Preston fans were hoping for a quick deal and a possible chance to see Robinson back in a North End shirt against Accrington Stanley this weekend, that prospect looks unlikely.
That’s because Robinson has been named in West Brom’s starting lineup to face Northampton Town at Sixfields.
Robinson appears to be starting up front alongside Daryl Dike tonight with Bruce giving him a chance to shine.
That may allow Robinson a chance to salvage his West Brom career, whilst if a deal was close with Preston, the Baggies surely wouldn’t risk him in this friendly.
This one is likely to drag on for a little while yet, with Preston needing to be patient if they have real hopes of re-signing Robinson this summer.
