Preston claimed a dramatic victory on Saturday, beating Derby County 1-0 with a 97th minute from Alan Browne.

North End looked bright before Martyn Waghorn’s red card in the first half, and then found life a little more difficult.

Breaking down defences is often Preston’s biggest problem, and it looked like the Rams would frustrate the Lilywhites despite their one-man deficit.

However, Preston came up with a winner right at the death, with Alan Browne breaking into the box before firing a superb strike past David Marshall.

Browne was operating in more of a right back role by that stage in the game as Preston’s lineup became a little muddled, but he still showed his class.

The Irishman is out of contract in the summer but is still turning in committed displays, and many will hope that he signs a new deal to stay at Deepdale.

He has though seen a number of players earn moves elsewhere, including Ireland teammate Callum Robinson, who left Preston for Sheffield United last year before heading to West Bromwich Albion.

Robinson clearly still keeps tabs on North End and Browne himself, taking to Twitter to celebrate the ‘superstar’ scoring the winner, adding that you ‘love to see it’.
