Preston take on Stoke City in the Championship today, and will be looking for a win after the 5-0 home thrashing at the hands of Brentford last weekend.

However, they will have to do it without Liam Lindsay.

Some will be wondering whether Lindsay is eligible to play in today’s game having joined on loan from Stoke in the January transfer window.

Lindsay will not be able to play today, as the terms of his loan prohibit him from playing against his parent club.

The 25-year-old has been attempting to get his career back on track with North End having been completely frozen out under Michael O’Neill.

Lindsay would have no doubt loved the chance to impress in front of O’Neill, but he won’t be able to do that today.

The Scot’s absence means Preston will have to tinker with their back line today; if it’s a back three, we may see Jordan Storey and Andrew Hughes flanking Paul Huntington.

Lindsay has been solid if unspectacular since arriving at Deepdale, and North End will soon have to decide on whether or not to move for him permanently.
