Preston continue to be linked with new faces, and Luton Town’s Matty Pearson is one of the latest names suggested.
Football Insider reported earlier today that North End are battling Huddersfield Town for Pearson’s signature as he prepares to leave Luton.
It’s suggested that Pearson is turning down a new deal at Luton and will subsequently leave on a free transfer this summer.

However, Lancs Live claim that Pearson isn’t on Preston’s radar, and given how well-connected they are, that seems more reliable.
Pearson, 27, has had spells in Lancashire before with Blackburn Rovers and Accrington Stanley, and has now made nearly 150 appearances for Luton.
The 6ft 3in defender can play at centre back or right back, and could have been viewed as a versatile option in the same way Sepp van den Berg has been.

It doesn’t seem that North End are prioritising a move for Pearson any time soon though, even if Preston are in the market for defenders. They’ve also been linked with Pearson’s teammate Sonny Bradley.
We understand that Liam Lindsay is likely to join permanently this summer, but Pearson seemingly won’t be joining him in moving to Deepdale.
