Preston North End striker Connor Wickham is facing time on the sidelines with injury – but his bad luck has managed to take yet another turn.
Wickham probably feels cursed at this point.
The striker has been through injury hell for around five years now.
Transfermarkt note 11 injuries for Wickham during his time at Crystal Palace between 2015 and 2021.
Released this summer, Wickham ended up signing for PNE as a free agent earlier this month.
Wickham was handed a first start against Cheltenham Town last week, but disaster struck almost immediately.
A rash early challenge saw Wickham pick up a hamstring injury. Immediately taken off, Wickham’s full PNE debut lasted less than 10 minutes.
There are already fears that Wickham has played his final game for PNE. His contract only runs until January, and this hamstring blow could see him mis s months of action.
As if all this isn’t bad luck enough, Wickham has now had another strange turn.

PNE boss Frankie McAvoy has admitted that Wickham was supposed to see a specialist in recent days.
Remarkably though, the specialist in question has now contracted COVID-19, meaning PNE now have to find another specialist.
Wickham’s bad luck just keeps going, even if this one may only seem minor.
Let’s hope there is positive news and a small crumb of good luck for Wickham, who deserves it for than many right now.
