Preston North End have a large first team squad this season which means it’s hard for any younger players to try and break in. Joe Rodwell-Grant has been the only one to get minutes on the pitch so far from the youth players.
Jacob Holland-Wilkinson joined AFC Fylde on loan last month and he has now been joined by winger Ethan Walker. Fylde play in the Vanarama National North league and are managed by former Morecambe boss Jim Bentley.
The 19-year-old has joined on an initial one month loan and could make his debut on Saturday in a home FA Cup tie against Spennymoor Town in the second round of qualifying.
Walker was on loan at Carlisle United last season in League Two but ha struggled with a few injuries in the last year or so. Hopefully he can make a big impact at Fylde and come back and push for a place in the North End side.
Holland-Wilkinson has made three appearances in the league so far for The Coasters all from the bench. Having a familiar face at the club will be positive for both players and it obviously shows Fylde have got a keen eye on our youth set up too.
