Remember Andre Green?
Don’t worry, you’d be forgiven for forgetting his dismal loan spell at Preston last season.
In August 2019, Preston swooped to take Green on a season-long loan deal, landing him after selling Callum Robinson to Sheffield United.
The parallels were clear; Green and Robinson both came through at Villa, both had England youth caps, and both predominantly played on the left flank, cutting in on their stronger right side.

Green spoke to Robinson about making the move, and it all seemed to make sense – especially as a permanent move would be a possibility given his lack of playing time at Villa.
It started pretty well for Green; he scored in his first start against Bradford City, but his loan spell quickly became a nightmare.
MORE PRESTON STORIES
The 22-year-old played just six times for North End before his loan spell was cut short, allowing him to move on loan again, this time to Charlton Athletic.
He of course scored against Preston in January, but Villa chose to release him when he returned there over the summer.

So where is he now? Well, somewhat surprisingly, Green still finds himself a free agent, and is without a club ahead of the January transfer window.
The Sun on Sunday (4 October; Page 59) claimed both Sheffield Wednesday and Queens Park Rangers are keen on him, whilst The Athletic suggest he is waiting for the right offer.
A Championship move seems likely, as Green still has plenty of potential – but don’t expect to see him joining Preston any time soon!
