Former Preston North End boss Frankie McAvoy will now form part of the new Heart of Midlothian managerial team.
Hearts have decided to sack manager Robbie Neilson.
Four defeats in a row have done for Neilson, with the wider picture now six defeats in eight.
Fans have completely turned against Neilson and Hearts were left with no choice but to sack their former defender.
This was Neilson’s second stint in charge but he leaves Tynecastle once again and Hearts are looking for a new boss.
Neilson’s exit now gives former PNE boss Frankie McAvoy a chance to step up.
Hearts have confirmed that Steven Naismith will take over until the end of the season with assistance from McAvoy and Gordon Forrest.
McAvoy actually coached Naismith alongside Alex Neil at Norwich City and the pair now join forces to try and help Hearts.
McAvoy spent four years as part of Neil’s coaching staff at PNE before taking over as caretaker manager following Neil’s exit.
PNE decided to give McAvoy the job permanently after a strong run of form but the full-time job proved a little trickier.

McAvoy was sacked in December 2021, paving the way for Ryan Lowe to come in as his successor.
14 wins in 33 with just 10 defeats along the way wasn’t a terrible record for McAvoy, especially in his first managerial job.
McAvoy didn’t have to wait long for a return to football though as he joined Hearts in February 2022, becoming their new Academy Director.
Ex-PNE man Joe Savage is sporting director at Hearts and decided to reunite with McAvoy in Edinburgh, handing him a key job in the youth setup at Tynecastle.
McAvoy’s coaching experience will now be utilised to help Naismith and there is now a chance for him to step into that role for the long-term; after all, McAvoy knows all about taking on a bigger role after a sacking.
