Manchester United talent and former Preston North End loanee Alvaro Fernandez has trained with Spain’s senior national team this week.
PNE have had a number of popular loan players in recent times.
Daniel Iversen and Sepp van den Berg spring to mind, as do Cameron Archer and Tom Cannon.
Then there is Alvaro Fernandez, who spent last season on loan at North End from Manchester United.
The Spaniard excelled as a left wing back at PNE, racking up 39 appearances in the Championship whilst bagging four assists.
Fernandez trains with Spain senior squad
PNE did attempt to re-sign Fernandez for another year but both he and Manchester United had other ideas.
Fernandez ended up back in his native Spain, joining La Liga side Granada on a season-long loan.
There were concerning rumours surrounding a potential move to Burnley, so PNE fans were just pleased to see him go elsewhere!
Fernandez has now played eight times for Granada, starting three times and coming off the bench in five other games.
The 20-year-old is ultimately looking to impress United and land himself an Old Trafford future, but he has seemingly caught the eye of the Spain boss.

As noted by Granada Hoy, Fernandez was given the chance to train with Spain’s senior side this week.
Fernandez is already a part of the Spain Under-21’s, who take on Hungary on Friday.
Senior boss Luis De La Fuente was down a left back for training with Valencia ace Jose Gaya suffering injury issues.
Up stepped Fernandez, featuring alongside Spain’s star players in what will have been a big moment.
Fernandez took to social media to post photos of himself in training, with fans from PNE, United and Granada no doubt loving this development for the left wing back.
