Hibernian have parted ways with Jack Ross after a 1-0 defeat to Livingston on Wednesday night – and Alex Neil is a candidate for the job at Easter Road.
The former Sunderland manager has led them to the League Cup final but a run of one win in nine league games has been deemed not good enough.
A former Preston North End manager has been tipped to replace him with Football Scotland suggesting Alex Neil is a front runner.
It’s stated that Neil is one of a number of names being considered by Hibs right now.
Neil has been without a club since leaving Preston North End in March. Recentl, he has been appearing as a pundit quite a lot recently including on Sky Sports for North End’s recent games against Liverpool and Fulham.
Football Scotland goes on to quote Neil from last night’s Sportsound in which he said that he would certainly be open to managing north of the border again.
Neil said: “I think I’ll certainly manage in Scotland again if I get the right opportunity. My career started in Scotland, I came back to Scotland and I’ll probably come back to Scotland.”

He enjoyed great success with Hamilton Academical, guiding them to promotion into the top flight before he was poached by Norwich City in 2015.
Celtic have been linked with Neil in the past but his value has dropped in the last year or so. A chance at Hibernian could be what he needs and he could have a chance to win a trophy straight away with the League Cup final around the corner.
At this time of year, jobs are aplenty in football as clubs looks to arrest slumps and get their season back on track. Neil may find himself linked with quite a few jobs in the next month.
