Last week, a former Preston loanee signed for a Championship rival as Matty James joined Bristol City – and now Chuks Aneke has followed suit.
Arsenal loanees haven’t really had the best time at Preston; Rhys Murphy and Stephy Mavididi didn’t exactly thrive at Deepdale.
The same largely goes for Aneke, who joined North End on loan from the Gunners in March 2012. Graham Westley had managed him at Stevenage and engineered a reunion.

Aneke only managed one goal in seven games for Preston and wasn’t kept on, but he’s carved out a successful Football League career.
After a stint in Belgium with Zulte Waregem, Aneke was prolific at Milton Keynes Dons and then racked up 16 goals for Charlton Athletic last season.
With his Charlton deal coming to an end this summer, Aneke has decided to leave South London for a move back to the Championship, joining Birmingham City.

That means Aneke is now working under Lee Bowyer once again, and he will look to finally become a success in the Championship having dominated League One.
Aneke’s loan spell at Deepdale was largely forgetful, but he now has a chance to show Preston what he’s all about when North End face Birmingham on September 25th at St Andrews and January 15th in Lancashire.
